Guidance

Welcome Lowndes Middle School Families to the Counseling Corner!!

Our school counseling program is designed to meet the emotional, social, and academic needs of all students.  The goal is to help students become healthy productive members of society.

  • What do School Counselors do?

School Counselors help students become successful learners by working with teachers and parents to help eliminate any educational road blocks.  They may assist with educational and behavioral strategies as well as provide support services for teachers and parents. School Counselors work with students in large group settings, in small groups, or in individual sessions.  Students are taught life-long skills such as anger management, how to improve self-esteem, how to improve study and organizational skills, dealing with bullies, setting and reaching goals.  These topics are just a few of the many I incorporate into my weekly counseling sessions.

  • How are students referred to the School Counselor?

Students are often referred by administration, teachers, or parents.  However, some students drop by my office when they need to talk.  If I am not available at that very moment, I schedule an appointment to meet with them.  Please feel free to contact my office if you ever need my assistance for anything!
